PRIVACY POLICY.

1. Summary

StartLarp is a parody entertainment app. We collect the minimum information needed to sign you in, keep your fictional accounts saved across devices, process your subscription, and generate the parody images you ask us to generate. We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information we collect

  • Account info from Google: your email address, name, avatar URL, and Google account ID (via OAuth).
  • Photos you upload: a photo of yourself that you submit to the Instagram generator. It is transmitted to our AI image provider so we can generate parody images that resemble you, and is stored only long enough to complete that request.
  • Fictional LARP data you create: chosen bank balances, generated transaction histories, generated Instagram profiles, generated cash-app / crypto data. Stored on our servers so it syncs across your devices.
  • Event RSVP details: name, email, phone number, and optional Instagram handle you enter when reserving an event ticket. Used only to contact you about that event.
  • Payment metadata: subscription status, current period end, cancellation state, and Stripe customer and subscription IDs. We do not receive or store your card number, CVC, or bank account credentials — those go directly to Stripe.
  • Usage analytics: route visits, feature interactions, timestamps, referring URL, user agent, and coarse IP address, used to operate and improve the Service and to detect abuse.
  • Legal acceptance records: the version of the legal documents you accepted, when you accepted them, and the IP address and user agent used at the time of acceptance. Stored to prove you agreed to these terms.
  • SMS metadata (Zelle simulator): the number you enter, the message you generate, and a delivery attempt log. We do not retain the content of arbitrary messages beyond what is needed for troubleshooting.

3. How we use it

  • To authenticate you and keep your fictional accounts saved across devices;
  • To generate the parody images and simulations you request;
  • To process your subscription and any one-time purchases (via Stripe);
  • To send transactional messages related to your account and events;
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, or violation of our Terms;
  • To comply with legal obligations, subpoenas, and lawful requests.

4. Subprocessors we share data with

  • Managed cloud provider — application hosting, database, and authentication.
  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing for subscriptions and event tickets.
  • AI image generation provider — generates images from photos you upload.
  • TextBelt — SMS delivery for the Zelle simulator.
  • Google LLC — OAuth sign-in.

Each subprocessor operates under its own privacy policy. We share only what is necessary to provide the corresponding feature.

5. How long we keep it

Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active. Fictional LARP data: for as long as your account is active and your subscription is in good standing — if your free trial expires without upgrade, or a scheduled charge fails and your subscription enters a terminal state, your saved LARP data may be permanently deleted from our servers. Payment metadata: retained as required for financial-record and tax purposes. Analytics events and pageviews: up to 24 months. Legal acceptance records: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate you agreed.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any right, email legal@startlarp.app. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. You may request access to, deletion of, or correction of your personal information by emailing legal@startlarp.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

8. EEA/UK residents (GDPR)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for optional processing (e.g., uploading a photo for image generation) and on our legitimate interests for operating and securing the Service. You may withdraw consent, lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority, and exercise the rights listed above.

9. Children

StartLarp is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, email legal@startlarp.app and we will delete it.

10. Cookies and local storage

We use first-party cookies and browser local storage strictly to keep you signed in, remember your fictional accounts on-device, and provide security. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including TLS in transit and access controls at rest. No system is perfectly secure. In the event of a breach that materially affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by law.

12. International transfers

Our subprocessors may process data in the United States and other jurisdictions. By using the Service you consent to such transfers.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be surfaced in-app and, where required, will require re-acceptance.
